Victor Osuagwu, has defeated Don Pedro Agambi to emerge chairman of the Lagos
chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).Read more
Osuagwu had 90 votes as against Aganbi’s 69 and
was declared winner by the Electoral Committee chairman, Sweetman Okujaju, at
Ojez Entertainment Centre, Surulere.
According to Okujaju, the election took place at
the Surulere Local Government Secretariat and it was a free and fair
election.
However, the result was called in the presence
of all the contestants except Aganbi, who was not available.
Other positions except that of the chairman were
unopposed.
Total vote cast -149. Director of Guild of
Services, Georgewell Nath, scored 95 votes while the post of treasurer went to
Ngozi Edemba Iroanyi, who got 95. Okafor Chidi Ihezie had 87 as financial
secretary and the post of public relations officer went to Mojisola Oyetayo with
102 votes. Assistant secretary, Chima Jackson, scored 76, as Valentine Agwulonu
became the new secretary with 94. Bukky Ogunade got 90 to emerge as vice
chairman. Nobody contested for the position of Chief Whip.
The election was organised by AGN Electoral
Commission.
Elated Osuagwu said he was poised to take the
guild to the next level by his election.
He said: “This victory of freedom will transform
and totally reposition the guild to the next level. We will bring back aggrieved
members and work towards having our secretariat. In these two years, we will
partner with all relevant guilds and marketers for the progress of our
body.
