Speaking with newsmen at the national secretariat, Metuh, a lawyer, confirmed his resignation based on the report which faulted the process of his emergence and about 12 other national officers. A recommendation of the 12-member INEC monitoring team led by Colonel M.K Hammanga (rtd),  had voided the election of 12 members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC). The report noted that their  positions were filled by affirmation process through motions moved and seconded by delegates, which it further noted, was alien to the party’s guidelines on primaries and convention. Metuh revealed that he had since tendered his letter of resignation, ahead of today’s NEC meeting.
But he confirmed that the National Chairman would not resign as he was in no way affected by the INEC report.
“The National Chairman is not going to resign; he is not only in office but in power. There is no controversy about his election, he is not in court. The INEC report did not say his election was flawed. He complied with the constitution of the party and the guideline of the 2012 convention”.
“I want to inform you that I am resigning as the National Publicity Secretary with effect from Thursday 20th June, 2013.
