Lagos fun lovers would normally encounter him at hit spots
such as O’Jez, Freedom Park, Goethe Institut, French Cultural Centre and even
eyebrow, The Eko Hotel. But such people, if observant enough, would also have
noticed that the old man has not been visible in recent times. The reason is
that he is sick.
Reports indicate that he is currently receiving treatment at
Ahmadiya Hospital in Ijaye area of Lagos, not far from where he lives in Abule
Egba. Although the musician, who has the reputation of being the first mentor
to juju maestro, Ebenezer Obey, is 85, his fans know that his agility on stage,
the strength of his voice, mean that he still has a lot to offer. They would
therefore wish him quick recovery so that he can further excite time with his
ageless talent.
