Police arrest man for beating wife to death

The police in Osun State have launched investigation into the alleged killing of a housewife, Mrs Jumoke Agbaje in Ilesa by her husband.

A police source that preferred anonymity told Daily Sun that the state police command had arrested and detained the suspect (names withheld) over his alleged involvement in the death of his wife.

The police source informed that the suspect was initially detained at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Ilesa, and later moved to the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) in Osogbo for further investigation. He said the police were determined to get to the root of the matter and charge the suspect to court.

According to sources, the suspect had been denied bail due to the severity of his alleged offence. The suspect had allegedly beaten his wife to death last Friday after a hot argument between the couple. The man was said to have hit the wife with concrete block on her forehead and she bled profusely before their neighbours rushed her to the hospital. It was gathered that the woman died on arrival at a private hospital.
