Captain Ikedichi Iweha, spokesman of the JTF said in a statement that the suspects were killed in pre-dawn raid on a house occupied by members of the terrorist group in Abunabu village in Guri Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The statement explained that in the ensuing shootout, “three terrorists lost their lives while four AK47 rifles, five magazines and 164 rounds of 7.62mm special (ammunition for AK47 rifles) were recovered after a thorough search of the house.”
Sources disclosed that the raid was carried out at about 5 am by a combined team of the JTF consisting of soldiers of the 3 Brigade in Kano and the DSS. The JTF reiterated its earlier position that following the declaration of a state of emergency in some parts of the North-East, some elements of the terrorist network who were escaping would want to seek refuge in other parts of the country, especially  in areas with little security presence.
The JTF, however, assured that it would not rest on its oars in ensuring the safety of the people of Jigawa and other states within the area of its  operations. The joint security outfit stressed that against this background, it has increased its personnel in towns in Jigawa State besides raising the number of patrols, especially in identified flash-points to forestall any attempt by the Islamist insurgents to hibernate in local councils in the state,.
While counting on the support of the members of the affected communities, the JTF urged them to assist in the provision of useful information.
