MTN Project Fame kicks off amid glamour

Last Saturday, the MTN Project Fame Season Six opened amid pomp with the unveiling of 16 contestants at the Ultima Studios, Lekki, Lagos. Read more
The contestants are Simon Ekechukwu, Omolayo Babawale, Janet Ayoka, Gbemisola Rowland, Johnny Drill Ighodaro, Niniola Apata, Immaculate Patience, Henry McJohn, David Crentsil, Roland Ricketts, Leonard Massaquoi, Oluchi Isreal, Blessing Jimoh Lucky, Olawale Ayodele Ojo and Margareth Cephas.
The MTN Project Fame retained the trio of popular music producer, TY-Mix, Ghanaian music legend, Bibie Brew, and German-Nigerian Afro hip-hop veteran, Ade Bantu, as judges. The academy’s faculty will be supervised by veteran actress Joke Silva, Mrs. Ige, choreographer Kaffy and Ben Ogbeiwi during the show with scintillating and breath-taking performances.
Past winners like Iyanya and Praiz attended the show and shared memories of how they were nurtured into super-stardom on the same platform.
The contestants lived up to the expectations of the audience with their performances with what should be expected during the show.
Staring eviction in the face, Gbemisola, Veronica, Daniel, Niniola, Olawale and Johnny had to convince the judges that they deserved a place in the academy. While they took turns to make a possible last impression through various renditions from popular artistes, only four of them got the judges’ nods to join the other 12 contestants. Veronica and Daniel could not deliver such master-strokes that would have given them the opportunity to be part of this year’s academy.
Some of the contestants, their enthusiasm was visible. They admitted that having made it into the academy, they will give each performance and each day their best. Henry McJohn, who almost made it into the academy last year, through the wild-card entry, could not hold back his joy.
Roland Ricketts said he would not allow ‘affliction’ to raise itself the second time, as he was evicted on the opening ceremony of last year’s edition but he is determined to make an impression.
Praiz said, ‘without Project Fame, I would not have become who I am today’, the 16 contestants surely, have a long list of alumni to look up to besides a series of master-classes where they will be taught basic life principles as part of their nurturing process.”
