Lagos was agog last Friday when Iyanya, Chidinma, KCEE, Wizkid, Praiz, Kesse, Ayo, and others thrilled fans at the MTN Project Fame All Stars music concert. Read more
MTN’s Chief Marketing Officer, Larry Annette, did a duet with KCEE of Limpopo fame, Iyanya and Wizkid to the delight of the audience. Wizkid and KCEE attended the show to celebrate MTN’s can-do spirit. As it has produced outstanding number of musicians in five years. Little wonder, Wizkid did a duet each with Iyanya and Chidinma.
MTN has produced scores of music superstars whose nationalities spread across West Africa. Notable among these music stars are Iyanya, one of Africa’s biggest musical exports, Chidinma, Praiz and Kesse. Remarkably, these musical stars and rare personalities have risen to stardom in less than five years, after they participated in Africa’s most popular musical reality TV show, the MTN Project Fame West Africa.
It was for that unmatched record that the All-Stars Concert was organised to celebrate and showcase how the youths can be groomed, without allowing them to go through the frustrating uncertainty of endless hassles that are known to be the regular features of the music industry.
The youths, who have participated in the musical reality show surely sparkled with rare professionalism, such that when a select few among them featured in the just concluded All-Stars Concert, the audience was left wondering if they were not legends already.
They are growing to be legends, of course. From Yetunde ‘Omo’badan’s’ gorgeous look to Adetoun’s effortless vocal range, equalling that of Chidinma and Monica’s seamless tonality, there is much to cheer about and great hope for young female music talents that are already auditioning in Lagos for the reality show.
Interestingly, Mike, the winner of the second edition, had been clearly transformed. He gave an engaging performance. Ayo, the recent winner, is digging deep into Afro-beat. Again, that speaks volumes of how the reality show helps its contestants to find the music genre that best suits their talents. Kesse and Nii, from Ghana, were a sight to behold. Kesse who recently, won the Ghana Music Award was a runner-up to Nigeria’s Chidinma, at the third edition of Project Fame.
