Bank director, Obianor, wins Anambra APGA governorship ticket

  Obianor, a late entrant, was said to have been well favoured by the outgoing Governor Peter Obi, being a known longtime pal and ally.
  Curiously, the National Chairman of the party, Chief Victor Umeh, was absent at the primary election which took place at the Women Development Centre in Awka.
  But the event which was chaired by a former running mate to Senator Chris Ngige, Chief Phil Agbasi, was witnessed by a member of the party’s Board of Trustees, Dr. Tim Menakaya, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain and wife of the late leader of the party, Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu. Also in attendance was a former Commissioner for Special Duties and son to Ojukwu, Emeka Ojukwu.
  Obianor said it was not a personal victory but that it belongs to all. He pledged to continue with the good work of Obi, urging every member of his party and residents to join hands with him so as to take Anambra State to the next level. He said he was very humbled with the victory and confidence reposed in him by the people.
  To clinch the ticket, Obianor polled 817 votes, his closest rival and member of the House of Representatives, Uche Ekwunife, polled 150.
