Indeed it was a fun packed evening as the four contestants on probation mounted the stage and once more performed the songs that put them on probation. Jimoh was saved by the viewers at home, Niniola found favour with the judges while Johnny narrowly escaped elimination due to support from other contestants.
Jimoh sang Elton John’s Sacrifice while Roland did a rendition of Careless Whispers by George Michael. Nancy performed Irene Cara’s Flashdance and David performed Maxi Priest’s Close To You. Johnny Drille did James Blunt’s Beautiful and Margaret performed Cher’s Believe among others.
The judges pulled a surprise on everyone. Rather than place four or five contestants on probation, they decided to put all the contestants on probation and allowed the audience to determine who is evicted by voting. Consequently, the five contestants with the least votes will perform next weekend in order to escape elimination.
Commenting, Olumide Akinlabi, Head, Media & Publicity, Ultima Limited, producers of Project Fame said: “The competition is getting tougher by the day and we have put certain measures in place to ensure that it remains the best in the whole of West Africa.”
In the same vein, Okundola Bamgboye, MTN’s Events & Sponsorship Manager, enjoined Nigerians to continue to vote for their favourite contestants. The contestants did a tribute to James Brown and Ray Charles.
