Chief Marketing Officer, MTN, Larry
Annetts, said “It is necessary to launch the digital app in Abuja, considering
the success recorded in Lagos and the relevance of the capital city to MTN and
the nation”. He added that the launch would afford the youth, in the Centre of
Unity, to effectively gain first- hand exposure to the app which has been rated
as the biggest karaoke initiative and contest with deep consideration for
consumers’ desires for trends and comfort.
Larry Annetts explained that the app allows
customers on the MTN network, to select, listen and sing to a karaoke version
of any of their favourite songs, both locally and internationally, from any
genre of music, ranging from Nigerian hip- hop, R & B, Afro hip -hop and
many others.
Notably, what makes the musical app
interesting is that it is engaging, with features that enable users to record
and share their songs on Twitter, Facebook and MTN’s YouTube channel, where
they can be analysed and rated for the contest, based on the number of views.
Meanwhile, Arafat Manliki, Specialist
Digital Marketing, MTN, added that the features which make it possible for
participants to sing, record and share on the social media platform; where the
participants are expected to canvass for views by friends, family members and
the general public, are already available on the app.
The grand finale and star prize
presentation are slated for December, when three participants with the overall
highest number of views on YouTube and another three selected through a
wild-card procedure, will compete for the Porsche Cayman and a record deal with
Don Jazzy.
