The minister made the statement at the inauguration of units of Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI), Obio/Akpor local Government Area chapter.
According to him, the Rivers State government had been giving pre-condition for ending the rift between President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Chibuike Amaechi.
He said: “Those who said that I should be removed, I have even over-stayed. To be a Minister for two years, you must thank your God. We were not ministers when we fought for them in 2007. Nobody can give Mr. President condition.
He said the era of dictatorship and authoritarianism in Rivers State was over. He also assured the people that all those involved in injuring the Hon. Member of the House of Assembly, Michael Chinda, would not go scot-free.
“They tried to kill our son. They will never go scot-free. Be calm, don’t take laws into your hands. Continue to pray for him,” he said.
The minister appealed to the workers of Obio/Akpor council that was sealed off over two months now to be patient, adding that they would not be abandoned.
Describing the LGA as PDP area, Wike said he would mobilize the people to support PDP, especially President Goodluck in 2015. “The President is our son. Jonathan is our in-law; his wife is our daughter. Go to all the wards, talk to all the people to support our son.”
He said Rivers PDP would not sacrifice the position of president for any other.
Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of the state chapter of PDP, Chief Felix Obuah, said he would bring the governor and the minister together for reconciliation.
He said that as a father of the party in the state, he would not allow his children to quarrel.
