Spiritual leader arraigned for raping housewife in Ogun

The white garment church prophet was said to have told the unsuspecting woman that he had a divine message of good fortune for her, which he said would not come to pass unless she had a bath in a flowing stream.
The housewife, who was attracted by the prediction, accepted to have the spiritual bath.
The court was further told that the randy prophet then accompanied his victim to the stream during which he allegedly raped her in the process of having the bath.
Police prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Paul Etusi who read the one-count charge said the alleged offence was contrary to Section 357 and punishable under Section 358 of the Criminal Code; Volume 1, the Law of Ogun State Nigeria, 2006.
When the charge was read to him, the accused pleaded not guilty.
The trial Chief Magistrate, Olusesan Araba, later ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody and directed that the case file should be forwarded to the Director of Pubic Prosecution (DPP) for advice.
The case was adjourned till September 16.
