MI, has worked with the Lagos State
Electricity Board (LSEB), over the last few months to become more energy
conscious by fixing retrofitting light bulbs in his home with energy saving
bulbs. He said he was excited to moderate the Governors’ first ever Google Plus
Hangout, saying it was an historic event to discuss power energy conservation
in Lagos State.”
Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola (BRF) said
the essence of the initiative is to cause attitudinal change in the poor manner
in which people use electricity, saying society would be better for all when
people imbibe simple positive behaviour as energy conservation. He noted that
turning off of appliances when not in use and not needed, turning off of taps
when brushing or bathing because more energy is used to pump water when it is
wasted and use of power saving bulbs would make a great difference.
Fashola further enjoined residents to take
advantage of the energy calculator initiative which they can use to calculate
their expected and real energy consumption as well as help them to plan and
consciously conserve energy.
The Power Kids Initiative is one of the
LASG initiatives on energy conservation and generation, teaching the kids in
Lagos from a very young age the energy conservation behaviours and benefits and
also giving them an opportunity to explore power generating, new energy
sources.
