Residents of the capital city of Anambra State, Awka and its
surrounding towns have been urged to observe the sit-at-home directive by the

Saturday, June 8 to protest the senseless killings of innocent Igbo sons and
daughters across the country, particularly in the North where Boko Haram holds
sway. Read more
The Awka South Regional Administrator of Movement for the
Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Nze Damian Nzekwe, who
made the call yesterday in a statement, said the sit at home would be between
the hours of 6 am and 4 pm, saying there would be no vehicular movement,
wedding, traditional marriage and burial on that day.
Recalling the incessant and senseless killings of Ndigbo in
Nigeria, he said: “As you are aware of extra judicial killing of six innocent
Ndigbo at Apo, Abuja, seven years after the gruesome murder of our people, the
principal suspect in the said murder, Ibrahim Danjuma is walking the streets a
free man.
“Recently, bodies
of innocent Igbo youths were found floating in the Ezu River, and till today we
have not been told what happened and no one has been punished for that sin.”
Nzekwe said MOSSOB being a non-violent organization had resolved to protest,
adding that no amount of police intimidation would stop it.
Also speaking on the directive, the Regional Director of
Information, Paul Obi Okoye said the protest was one that must be done, warning
that the Federal Government recent decision to resume treason charges against
MASSOB leader, Ralph Uwazuruike would be challenging God.
